The People
Between 1859 and 1954, three generations of Gibson family members and dozens of servants lived and worked at 137 Beacon Street. In many ways, their experiences are typical of individuals of their particular gender and social class. And yet, their unique stories allow us to explore this period of Boston’s history through a distinctly personal lens.

26th Annual Museum Benefit
Tuesday, April 11, 2023
6:00-9:00 p.m.
St. Botolph Club, Boston
Tickets and Sponsorships now available!
The Gibson House Museum will hold its 26th Annual Benefit at the historic St. Botolph Club on April 11, 2023. The Museum’s primary fundraising event, the Benefit raises funds critical to maintaining the house and its collections, and providing educational programming to the public. This year, our Benefit honoree will be our neighbor, the French Library/Alliance Française. Since 1961 it has enriched the neighborhood, city, and region with extensive history and holdings relating to France and La Francophonie, all housed in a similar period building to the Gibson House. The French Library has recently undergone a successful major restoration that respects the fine line between preservation of the past and inclusion of much-needed modern touches. For that, we recognize their dedication to Back Bay’s architectural preservation and history.
Our event will exude a certain savoir faire as we enjoy “An evening à la Belle Epoque.” The Belle Epoque period, 1871–1914, was a grand time at the Gibson House, where Rosamond Gibson savored French sophistication and culture, designing her Music Room in a French-salon style. The evening will feature food, drinks, music, trivia, and raffle prizes with a French theme and is sure to be great fun.
